- A Cistercian nuns' monastery located on Tautra Island in Central Norway -
Welcome to Tautra Mariakloster. We are a community of eleven nuns who live the Cistercian (Trappistine) life in central Norway. We are located on the Island of Tautra in the Trondheim Fjord. If you speak Norwegian, we have a new site: www.tautra.no.
This present site is for English speakers. The menu above will help you to navigate. Thank you for your interest. God bless your day!

WELCOME TO THE INFIRMARY WING!
WE ARE SO VERY GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SUPPORT
On Friday, the 22nd of January 2021, we were given the keys to our new infirmary wing. We are extremely grateful to all our many friends and supporters who made it possible to build and pay for this needed extension to our monastery.
Mother Brigitte is guiding our moving in as we gradually put furniture together and make it a home within our monastic enclosure.
By now, we have sown the grass, and the curtains are up. So far, four Sisters have moved into that wing and are all delighted to be there.
We plan to make at least two videos, one of the new wing, and a new one about our monastic life here at Tautra Mariakloster which will include the entire monastic complex. We hope these can be finished in time for the summer tourist season 2022.
Though we are now able to close our capital campaign, which thanks to your generosity, has met the goal of a beautiful infirmary wing for our older sisters, we hope you will continue to support us primarily with your prayers. Of course, we can still receive donations through Oslo katolske bispedømme, our website Tautra.no, Facebook, Go Fund me, and by international bank transfer for our ongoing expenses.
May God bless you all abundantly, and let us continue to pray for each other as we strive to make the kingdom of heaven present on earth.
